This series takes place at an equine rehabilitation center near Nantes in the West of France.
The rustic specialised ranch is run by a dear family friend, who was diagnosed with advanced cancer last summer. This great woman is a veterinarian and has spent her life caring for abandoned, sick, and injured horses - animals deemed useless by an industry that prioritises performance over health. The parallel between her own struggle and the horses she nurtures moved me. Care and dignity became the heart of my project, as well as the people who make this space alive.
Through my images, I want to capture the unique mindset of this place, where a respectful approach to horsemanship gives horses a chance to live free from bits, horseshoes, and coercion.
